Belgian Gold Coins have had a fairly chequered History.
Two World wars meant that many early Belgian Coins were looted and melted down.
As Belgium is pretty much in the centre of Northern Europe it has seen many changes in Government (mostly by occupation).
Belgium is both French and Flemish Speaking and coins for both languages exist.
Its association with the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
In 2002 Belgium Joined the Common Market and later produced a number of commemorative coins.
The Royal Begian Mint produces a limited edition proof set of coins each year.
