Canada Gold Coins

One of the best known Valuable Gold Coins is the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf  Coin
The Royal Canadian Mint has one of the most pure gold coins in the World.
It has almost no base metals incuded (normally used to make gold coins more durable)
This is one of the most desirable gold coins for collectors.
Gold Maple Leafs were first minted in 1979 during a shortage of Gold bullion coins.
(Krugerrands were available but there was a boycott on South African Valuable gold coins at that time.)

Face values of Gold Maple Leafs are :
C$1,C$5,C$10,C$20 and C$50
but the actual value of the coins is much more.
Platinum and Silver Maple Leafs also exist and so does a Palladium Maple Leaf Coin.
Canada has the amazing honour of having the Largest Gold Maple leaf Coin in the World.
This has a Face value of ONE MILLION DOLLARS.
This huge coin weighs 100 Kilograms and is 50 cm across and 3 cm thick.
Several of these have been sold at prices of 2 and 1/2 to 3 million dollars each ...
Canada has also produced colored Gold Maple Leafs and the Worlds first hologram coins.
