Dutch Silver Coins

The most common Dutch Coin in use from 13th century to mosdern times was the Guilder.
(These are still in use in the Netherlands Antilles)
The word Guilden means Goldenand originally guilden were made of gold.
The other currency commonly in use was the Florijn.
Dutch coins until recently were still marked Fl.
The Silver Guilder was divided into 20 Stuivers ech being worth 8 Duiten or 16 Penningen
There was also a Daalder which was worth 1 and 1/2 Guilders or 30 Stuivers.
A Silver Ducat was in fairly common use and this was called the Rijksdaalde and was worth 2 1/2 Guilders.
Another coin came into use called the Ducaton.
There is a similarity of name between Netherlands and German Currency.
